Denim is Pika's second big category

Reading a jeans size chart from an album
Denim charts are less forgiving than hoodie charts because there is no stretch in most rigid denim. The numbers you need:
- Waist (flat). Measured straight across the top of the waistband with the button closed. Double it for the circumference.
- Front rise. Crotch seam to the top of the waistband; tells you where the jeans sit.
- Thigh (flat). Measured just below the crotch; the key number for baggy versus slim.
- Inseam. Crotch to hem; stacked and flared styles are often long on purpose.
- Leg opening. Hem width, flat; large numbers mean a wide or flared leg.
Measure a pair you like the same way and compare. If the album gives only waist sizes such as 30 or 32, ask for the full chart: one workshop's 30 can be another's 32.

Judging washes, prints and distressing in photos
Warehouse lighting flattens denim colour. Ask for a daylight photo when the wash matters. Look for even fading on the thighs, clean edges on printed or embroidered motifs, and distressing that follows the weave rather than looking cut with scissors. Check the hem: raw hems fray by design, finished hems should be straight. Painted denim should show the paint sitting on the surface, not bleeding into the fibres around it.
For denim, the flat thigh and inseam matter more than the waist number.

Caring for printed and painted denim
Printed and painted jeans last longer if you wash them inside out, cold, and hang them to dry. Heat from a dryer cracks screen prints and can lift painted details. Raw denim shrinks slightly on the first wash, so check whether the album lists sizes before or after washing. Distressed areas fray further over time; a few stitches on the back of a large hole stop it spreading.
